Like the other guy said Superheroes 2 is much better overall and tells a fairly good original story. I enjoyed the Lego The Avengers game but IвЂ™d be lying if I said it was anywhere near as good as the Lego Marvel Superheroes series. I swear I'm not trying to sway you to getting Marvel 2, I just really thoroughly enjoyed that game and believe it's much better than it's predecessor. You'll find you come back to Marvel 2 more often. If you want a somewhat branching storyline that's pretty funny to boot, go with Marvel 2. If you like the MCU movies and shows and wouldn't mind just rewatching things in videogame form, go with Avengers. Overall, it's ultimately up to you to decide. Not to mention Marvel 2 has the best Custom Character Creator to date that looks to only be outdone by the upcoming Lego DC Villains game.

It's a great game to have as a Marvel superheroes fan, because it teaches you a lot about characters you didn't even know existed. Marvel 2 also has what I consider to be the coolest thing in the history of the Lego superheroes games, and that's little bios you can read on every single character in the roster! Flipping over their comic stylized character cards (like baseball cards) gives you a rundown of their powers, their first comic book appearance, and a brief history on who they are. It's got a bigger more concise hub world that doesn't have loading times between it's segments and its got a great cast of non-story related characters to boot. The voice actors for the characters you know aren't here (not even their Lego Avengers voice actors) but it's not too jarring of a change. Marvel 2 on the other hand has an entirely original story and original voice acting.

It's one of the first games to have the 'Lego Movie Theater Syndrome,' and it's unfortunately not the last. A few have actually new recorded lines of dialogue and quests for you to do, but otherwise, the characters you play as in the story are just different versions of the main Avengers cast. There's a whole bunch of obscure Marvel characters in the roster, but most of them are simply unlockables from completing puzzles.

The open world is exactly the same as the first game plus a few smaller open world areas spread across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It basically just feels like you're in a Lego movie theater that's just showing what's on your tv. It makes for a pretty crappy game experience unless you're unfamiliar with whatever movie or show you're playing through. Even most of the audio lines is just recordings of the original versions. Lego Avengers suffers from what I like to call 'Lego Movie Theater Syndrome.' Pretty much every level in the game is just Lego versions of scenes ripped straight from their respective media. Unless you haven't seen an MCU movie or two, Id highly recommend Marvel Superheroes 2 over Avengers.
